The Simplex 2001 is a legacy conventional panel. A full system upgrade to a modern addressable equivalent is highly recommended.

Common Simplex 2001 Trouble Codes

  • ZONE OPEN: A field wire on an initiating device circuit has been disconnected or severed, preventing the zone card from reading the end of line resistor.
  • ZONE SHORT: A positive and negative wire are touching on an initiating circuit, which can trigger a false alarm or isolated trouble condition.
  • GROUND FAULT: A bare copper wire on a zone or notification circuit is physically touching the metal conduit or the panel motherboard enclosure.
  • BATTERY TROUBLE: The sealed lead acid backup batteries have dropped below their required voltage or failed a load test.
